Lake Erie Walleye or WALLETS? Did Capt. Straus take your WALLET TOO????

Hi Friends,

I just returned from Lake Erie fishing with my little girl, eight years old. We went to visit a friend who just lost his mother and is captain of Erie Drifter charters. I felt so horrible for him since he's been a friend since childhood and I just lost my mother whom I cared for over fifteen years in my home last September. When he invited us I immediately set a couple hundred dollars on the table of his fishing trailer to pay my way. He refused. So..as a good friend would do, I paid for EVERYTHING!! Bought his breakfast, purchased drinks, ice, bait, anything and everything I could pay for I insisted upon. I even gave him money to purchase our drinks at the local market but instead he took the money, bought what he wanted and walked out without buying our drinks and ice. I overlooked it until I began noticing $20 bills disappearing. When I finally asked him about it, after losing four of five $20 bills, he said "this will go for the gas bill". I was SO INSULTED!!!

After all, I OFFERED to give him hundreds on top of paying for everything. When we neared the end of the trip he began hinting that he wanted MORE. Then...after purchasing supplies worth over $575 he TOOK half of the supplies home with him when I was out of his presence. When I asked for them back he emphatically stated "NO"!!!

Wow!! I couldn't help but ask others if they saw what I saw. Even his first mate couldn't believe what he saw. The sad part is that I borrowed the money from sales of our church to take this trip so he took from the church!!! REFUSING to give it back and leaving me to pay all of the debt from what I borrowed!!!

I couldn't help myself. I had to tell him what a selfish, self centered, self indulged person that I felt he was. I OFFERED..I WANTED TO GIVE TO HIM but he refused...instead HE TOOK BEHIND MY BACK!! I was so hurt and offfended. Needless to say..I did not return home with him to his mothers funeral. I can no longer call him my friend.

I need HELP. I have other life long friends who said they had the exact same thing happen. Why would someone have a feeling of such self entitlement? Why would someone sacrifice a lifelong friendship for money??? After all, I am a woman and he took from me and my little girl who was beside herself when I had to explain why we were leaving without saying goodbye.
